Let's get something straight

Treatment

Invisalign

INVISALIGN straightens your teeth without the use of wires or brackets by using a series of clear, customized, removable appliances called Aligners.  They are virtually undetectable whereby no one will really know you are in the process of straightening your teeth.  Since the Aligners are removable, you can eat and drink what you want during treatment and brushing and flossing are a breeze.

Ties and Expanders

Colored Ties (a.k.a. Ligatures) not only play an important role in helping the braces ensure your teeth are properly aligned but also let you add your own personality flair.  So choose your favorite color, or mix and match!

Palatal expansion is a combination of tooth movement and jaw expansion.  It works by widening the two halves of the upper jaw, called the Palate.  the two halves are joined together by a 'suture' in the middle of the roof of the mouth.  I will make a custom expander for each individual patient.  An expander can be fixed or removable.  The expander is attached to the upper back teeth and eases the suture apart which makes the upper jaw wider.  As the jaw expands, new bone fills in between the two halves of the palate.  Expansion can take a few weeks to a few months, depending on the amount of expansion required for each individual patient.

What is a Habit Appliance?  A Habit Appliance is used to break a habit, such as thumb sucking or tongue thrusting that can cause improper growth of the mouth and misalignment of the teeth. These appliances are custom made for each patient and length of wear depends upon how quickly the habit is diminished.

Ceramic Braces

RadiancePlus

You need a treatment option that will straighten your teeth quickly and effectively, provide a beautiful appearance during treatment and address your specific orthodontic needs - and you're no alone.  One in five people seeing orthodontics are adults, many needing a true aesthetic solution.

I use Radiance Plus, a clear orthodontic solution that allows you to confidently live your life while your teeth are being straightened.  These exceptionally clear braces are appropriate for nearly every type of orthodontic need and work continuously throughout your treatment.  Whether you're at work or at play, these ceramic braces deliver your ideal smile with no interruption to your treatment or active lifestyle.

BEAUTY

These braces by Radiance Plus are proven to be the clearest of all ceramic braces.  They are made from pure grown sapphire, providing an exceptionally clear appearance.  The body of the braces also resists stains so they will stay brilliant throughout your treatment.

PERFORMANCE

They are also designed to help straighten your teeth quickly and effectively without sacrificing your comfort.  A heat polishing process helps give its smooth surface and the braces are constructed to be as thick and durable as possible.  The smooth, contoured design also makes them easier to clean, helping maintain proper hygiene.

STRENGTH

These braces are as strong as they are beautiful.  The pure grown sapphire used for the bracket body is one of the hardest materials in nature, second only to diamonds.  They are designed to be as robust as possible while still keeping your comfort in mind.  Once on your teeth, the patented Quad-Matte base keeps them on with unparalleled strength.

Retainers

Retainers are used to hold your teeth in their new, correct positions after your teeth have been straightened.  They can be removable or fixed.  Wearing your retainers is extremely important to prevent your teeth from shifting after your braces treatment.

Retainer Instructions:  The purpose of retainers is to hold teeth in their corrected position. Retainers are placed once braces are removed to stabilize the teeth as the bone builds up around them. Since retainers are removable, their use and care is entirely dependent on you. We will recommend a retainer type based on your bite.  There are some colorful retainer options if you’re feeling adventurous.

Hawleys

Wear your retainers full-time (24 hours per day).  You may remove your retainers while eating and brushing but you must replace them as soon as you are finished.  When the retainer is not in your mouth, it should be in the case you will be given.  The most common way to lose a retainer is by putting it in a napkin at school or a restaurant.  To avoid this, always place the retainer in a plastic case when it’s out of the mouth.

After the braces are removed, most patients will wear the retainers full-time for three months and then at night as directed.  You will be given specific instructions regarding how much the retainers need to be worn.

What to expect:  Initially, your retainers may feel bulky and affect your speech somewhat. In a few days, once the tongue adapts, speech will return to normal.  The day after you receive your retainers, your teeth may feel a bit sore.  This will resolve quickly with continuous wear.

Cleaning retainers:  Your retainers should be cleaned after each meal and before going to bed. Keep retainers clean by using your toothbrush and toothpaste.  Never use hot water on the retainers as this may distort the shape of the retainer.

IMPORTANT:  If you do not wear your retainers as instructed, your teeth WILL MOVE.  If you miss a night, wear your retainer full time.  Make sure your retainer is completely in, this may cause your teeth to be sore but they should realign.  If they don’t, or if your retainer is lost or broken, please call us immediately.  ALWAYS bring your retainers to your appointments so that we can check the fit and make any necessary adjustments.

Your final result of a beautiful smile will depend on your retainers so follow through with the hard work you’ve put in so far!
